Chris (he/him)

Lived Experience Specialist

High energy dance lover

As one of the Lived Experience Specialists in discovery college, Chris brings his lived expertise facilitating our courses and panels. When he works behind the scenes, he adds his lived experience knowledge to inform spaces in dc.

You might have seen Chris’ face across our socials, as he is our resident content queen. He is involved in narrating dc’s explainer videos, writing blogs, chatting on the podcast or being part of informative mental health related videos. Chris loves creating content that helps smash stigma and allow many different experiences to feel seen.

He also works as a Senior Youth Peer Worker, and has worked for Alfred Health for 6 years. He is very passionate about his work and prides himself in his ability to be down to earth and fun. He loves adding light to the industry and forming connections with anyone, no matter what their background. 

Chris is passionate about bettering the lives of young people, leading with his heart and inciting positive culture change. He loves working in discovery college, as it provides a space for the community and himself to constantly learn and grow for the better.

Lucy

Lucy (she/her)

Lived Experience Specialist

Lover of storytelling and a big fan of ice cream.

Lucy is one of our Lived Experience Specialists, drawing on her own experiences to create fun and authentic learning spaces through co-facilitation, co-producing courses and content creation. Lucy has a background with film and animation. Her previous role as a peer worker has opened her eyes to the transformative power of listening and allowing people to be as they are. Lucy combines these loves in her role as the co-creator, co-host and editor on the Extremely Human podcast. She is passionate about teaming up with different individuals to help them share their stories and experiences in the way that they choose. She believes that the magic of storytelling can bring us closer to a more compassionate and kinder world.  

Lucy is a big fan of fun, meditation and exploring different ice cream flavours.

Joe (he/him)

Clinical Lead

Handpan enthusiast, Bulldog lover + does Tech-no for an answer.

As the Clinical Lead for discovery college, Joe utilises his mental health experience and knowledge of working with young people and families to ensure that the learning content created explores current clinical approaches of evidence-based practice alongside lived/living experiences.

Alongside this, they support the development of content through a co-production lense and facilitation of courses.

Joe brings a wealth of knowledge as an Occupational Therapist with over 8 years of experience working with youth psychosis on a mental health acute intervention team as well as within vocational rehabilitation supporting people to return to work after experiencing mental health challenges.

Prior to this, Joe studied music performance in Germany and worked as a professional orchestral musician. He brings a fresh and creative approach to life and his work with people in mental health.
