Claire (she/her)

Team Leader + Learning Consultant

Lover of snacks and plants + a meme enthusiast
Claire is Team Leader and Learning Consultant and is super passionate about education, the arts and youth mental health. Beginning as a Drama Teacher, Claire loves to bring creativity to all that she does. She is a life longer who  continually strives to add different expertise to her tool bag including narrative therapy, facilitation, codesign, theatre of the oppressed, therapeutic horticulture and design thinking. Claire loves working through coproduction to be able to walk alongside many different perspectives to help build learning spaces that create community connection and allow for different ways of understanding mental health and wellbeing. Claire loves being in nature, op-shopping, time with family and friends and adding novelty or adventure to life whenever she can.

Lucy (she/her)

Lived Experience Specialist

Lover of storytelling and a big fan of ice cream.
Lucy is one of our Lived Experience Specialists, drawing on her own experiences to create fun and authentic learning spaces through co-facilitation, co-producing courses and content creation. Lucy has a background with film and animation. Her previous role as a peer worker has opened her eyes to the transformative power of listening and allowing people to be as they are. Lucy combines these loves in her role as the producer and co-host on the Extremely Human podcast. She is passionate about teaming up with different individuals to help them share their stories and experiences in the way that they choose. She believes that the magic of storytelling can bring us closer to a more compassionate and kinder world.
Lucy is a big fan of fun, meditation and exploring different ice cream flavours.

Joe (he/him)

Clinical Lead

Handpan enthusiast, Bulldog lover + does Tech-no for an answer.
 
As the Clinical Lead for discovery college, Joe utilises his mental health experience and knowledge of working with young people and families to ensure that the learning content created explores current clinical approaches of evidence-based practice alongside lived/living experiences.
Alongside this, they support the development of content through a co-production lense and facilitation of courses.
Joe brings a wealth of knowledge as an Occupational Therapist with over 8 years of experience working with youth psychosis on a mental health acute intervention team as well as within vocational rehabilitation supporting people to return to work after experiencing mental health challenges.
Prior to this, Joe studied music performance in Germany and worked as a professional orchestral musician. He brings a fresh and creative approach to life and his work with people in mental health.

Blake (he/they)

Administrative Assistant

Movie and board games buff, has deep dives on music theory and culture alike.

Blake is our administrative assistant, working to keep discovery college running as smoothly as possible. They are committed to collaborative peer spaces, and are passionate about mental health advocacy and discussion. Previously working in university spaces as a voice for the queer and diverse community, they are aware that the best advocacy can come from being yourself, and that relaying your experiences allows others to feel comfortable to do so as well.

Alongside their work at discovery college Blake enjoys camping, day trips with friends in the rural parts of Victoria, and Dungeons and Dragons. Their main character is an eladrin elf glamour bard with a wicked sense of humour, which is hopefully not too far from Blake themselves.

Community Engagement Officer

Big lover of all things creative and outdoors. Passionate about connecting public health initiatives with the broader community and increasing access.
