• Wanting to explore how to support people with views different to your own   

This course explores … 

We’ll look at the big picture – what mental health means, how people experience it, and the many ways it can be understood. Together, we’ll explore the role of language, the impact it has on shaping beliefs, and how ideas about mental health have shifted over time. By hearing diverse lived and professional perspectives, you’ll have the chance to reflect on what influences your own views and how they may evolve in the future. 

Learning objectives 

By participating in this course, you will:   

• Understand that words related to mental health can mean different things to different people
• Recognise that there are many ways of understanding mental health and wellbeing
• Consider how ideas about mental health can change across time
